Editor bids farewell to weekly after five years in charge

Mark MiseldineAn editor has said farewell to a weekly newspaper after five years in charge.

Mark Miseldine has confirmed his departure from the Woking News & Mail, which he has run since 2018.

Mark, pictured, previously spent 28 years with Reach plc forerunner Trinity Mirror and was brands editor at Get Surrey when he left the company in a 2017 restructure.

His replacement at the Tindle Newspapers-owned News & Mail has not yet been announced.

In a farewell editorial, Mark told readers: “I’m proud of how we’ve covered a range of local issues and brought them to your attention. I believe we’ve helped make a positive difference.

“But ultimately, a newspaper is nothing without its community and its stories. That’s what keeps us connected. Thank you, as a community, for being so wonderful, so engaging, so creative and supportive.

“Anyway, the time has come for someone else to tell your stories. I’ll miss getting to hear them as they develop, but I’ll look forward to reading them each week, along with the rest of you.

“And I’d like to say thanks, once again, for being part of this with us, for sharing your news, for supporting the causes we’ve highlighted, for being involved with your local community just by reading this newspaper. We couldn’t do it without you, and we’re very grateful for your interest and support.”

The News & Mail, which was previously a family-owned paper, was bought by Tindle Newspapers in October last year.
