Daily’s special marks 30 years since legendary football manager’s departure

A regional daily has marked 30 years since a legendary football manager’s retirement with a special edition.

The Nottingham Post has produced ‘Cloughie’ in honour of former Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough.

Mr Clough, who died in 2004, managed Forest to two European Cups, a league title, two European Super Cups and four League Cups before leaving the club in 1993.

Widely regarded as the greatest manager England never had, he also won the League title with Derby County in 1972 and was infamously sacked by Leeds United after 44 days in 1974.

In an editorial promoting the publication, Reach’s head of sport in the Midlands Steve Wollaston wrote: “To mark 30 years since he left the City Ground, the Nottingham Post have produced a special edition celebrating his trophy-laden time with Forest.

“It includes interviews with former Reds players, stunning images from our picture archives, columnists, and plenty more.

“You really don’t want to miss it. We have already sold hundreds of copies, and we want to add your name to the list.”

The Post’s 48-page souvenir edition is priced at £3.
