Daily lands on ‘Fleet Street’ for National Park’s Monopoly board

New Forest MonopolyA regional daily has taken up the ‘Fleet Street’ space on a new Monopoly edition set in a National Park.

The Southern Daily Echo has won the honour on the New Forest edition of the property-based board game, which launched last Thursday.

The Southampton-based Daily Echo follows in the footsteps of numerous regional titles in landing the spot, sought after by local newspapers, in regionalised editions of the game.

Members of the public were asked to send in their suggestions for the board after it was announced last year.

Speaking to HTFP, Echo editor Ben Fishwick said: “It’s great the Echo’s coverage of the New Forest has been recognised by the title being put on Fleet Street for this special Monopoly edition.

“Our coverage of the Forest is read by thousands online and in print, and is led by longstanding New Forest reporter Chris Yandell.

“It’s a beautiful place to work and live, and it’s fantastic to be alongside the many landmarks and businesses that call the Forest their home.”

Ella Gibbs, from New Forest edition creator Winning Moves UK, told the Echo: “We have been wonderfully spoiled for choice putting this edition. Thank you to everyone who contributed during the public consultation process.”

Other regional titles to be placed on ‘Fleet Street’ in recent years include the MK News, Wolverhampton Express & Star, Kentish Gazette and Hull Daily Mail.
