Regional newspaper owner purchases B2B publisher

Phil InmanThe owner of two regional daily titles has announced the purchase of a business to business publishing group in its third acquisition since 2018.

The Claverley Group Limited, which owns Wolverhampton daily the Express & Star and sister title the Shropshire Star, has added HPCi Media to its growing portfolio

Based in London, HPCi Media publishes a series of magazines and websites aimed at professionals working in the beauty and consmetics industry, including Cosmetics Business, Pure Beauty and Nutraceutical Business Review.

The was acquisition completed in December 2021, with the announcement to staff being made yesterday.

It is the third such acquisition by CGL since 2018 following those of Children’s Magazine publisher, Kennedy Publishing and creative design and print management business, Cubiquity.

Claverley Group chief executive Phil Inman, pctured, said: “We are delighted to have concluded the acquisition of HPCi Media. The business benefits from a loyal customer base and has enjoyed year on year revenue growth for a number of years.

“We look forward to working with the current team to support further growth and development.”

HPCi managing director Colin Bailey-Wood said: “After a number of successful years, we believe that the next stage of development for HPCi requires further investment.
