Regional editor leaves role after three years for PR firm

Ben OrmsbyThe editor of a regional business title has left his role after almost three years for a new job in public relations.

Ben Ormsby has left The Business Desk, where he served as its Yorkshire editor, to join Leeds-based agency Aberfield Communications.

Ben, pictured, will take up the position of senior PR consultant with Aberfield.

The move marks a return to the sector for Ben, who worked in PR for the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Keepmoat Homes prior to joining the Business Desk in November 2019.

He said: “I’m pleased to be joining the team as it continues to grow and am excited to bring my experience in new media to clients across a range of sectors, in order to deliver positive influence that supports their strategic goals.”

The move comes after Aberfield landed a number of new clients including The Compleat Food Group, York Minster, Castle Howard, Fortus and Wellington Place.

Erin Jones has joined the company at the same time as Ben, also as a senior PR consultant.

Tim Downs, director of Aberfield, said: “It’s great to welcome Erin and Ben to the team.

“Both have excellent track records and bring new skills which will expand our service lines, including video and influencer marketing, as we continue to secure new accounts.

“These senior appointments are about structuring Aberfield for future growth as we continue to see a demand for strategic communications that have a positive influence on clients’ business and their core audiences.”
