News site offers remote work experience for budding reporters based off-patch

Alex GreensmithA hyperlocal news title is to offer remote work experience opportunities for budding journalists unable to travel to its patch.

Congleton Nub News has launched the scheme at the same time as welcoming in-person work experience placements for the first time.

The website was launched in 2020 as part of the Nub News network, which runs dozens of hyperlocal titles across the country.

Editor Alex Greensmith announced the scheme in an editorial.

Alex, pictured, wrote: “Know somebody who wants to be a reporter? Itching for some work experience in journalism? Congleton Nub News is now accepting work experience for the first time.

“Work experience season is fast-approaching, and Congleton Nub News have now officially opened work experience applications to wannabe writers from our town, and further afar.”

He added: “If you want to get the guarantee of articles published in a reputable online newspaper which is read by thousands, then look no further.

“You can get multiple bylines, day-to-day mentoring, and a reference on your CV. And don’t fret. You can work remotely if you are not from the Congleton area as well.”
