Jobs created as publisher launches dedicated newsletter team

Caroline HowleyA regional publisher has launched 13 new titles in a week after creating a three-strong newsletters team.

National World has created the team after appointing Yorkshire Post deputy digital editor Caroline Howley to the post of newsletter editor.

Caroline, pictured, is joined on the team by Christian Evans and Gregg Kelly.

They will create and write newsletters on a range of topics featuring stories and articles from across National World’s portfolio.

Thirteen such newsletters were launched last Wednesday – UK News, Trending Today, Parenting World, Crime UK, Weird Britain, EPL: After The Whistle, The Property Ladder, Today Explained, Long Reads, People World, Foodies’ Paradise, How To Survive The Cost Of Living Crisis and Westminster Explained.

The team are charged with increasing “the reach and effectiveness of our newsletter operation across the business” and “will be looking at ways to boost key metrics associated with email newsletters such as: opt-ins, open rates, clickthrough rates and page views”.

They report to group subscriptions and registrations editor Sam Shedden.

Sam told HTFP: “Newsletters have been a part of our business for many years now, however, it’s only with the recent hire of our group newsletter team that we’ve been able to put in place specialists to completely focus on this important distribution channel for our journalism.

“National World plc is on a mission to improve the customer experience on our websites and a part of this is examining how we interact with readers via email and what more we can offer them.

“Our newly appointed newsletter editor Caroline Howley and her team have worked really hard to get the first of our group-wide newsletters up and running and I look forward to seeing the results.”
