Investigations prize won by regional journalists welcomes entries

An annual award for campaigning and investigative journalism is welcoming entries.

The Private Eye Paul Foot Award is now open for submissions for 2022.

Last year, JPIMedia’s data and investigations team were shortlisted for the prize, won by the Financial Times for its entry on ‘The Unravelling of Lex Greensill’.

Previous winners from the regional press include Deborah Wain, of the Doncaster Free Press, in 2007, and Emma Youle, of Archant’s investigations unit, in 2017.

Submissions will be accepted for material published in a newspaper, magazine or website between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022.

The latter date is also the deadline for entries.

A shortlist will be revealed on 23 May, ahead of an awards ceremony on 14 June.

Padraig Reidy, chair of judges, said: “After a record number of entries last year, the judges are looking forward to reading even more brilliant journalism for the 2022 award.

“The huge range of submissions from different publications across the UK is what makes the Paul Foot Award so special.”
