Ex-journalist shares shock after former landlady’s alleged murder

Jordan BhattAn-ex regional journalist has shared his shock at the alleged murder of his former landlady.

Jordan Bhatt has spoken out after the death of Valerie Warrington and her ex-husband Clive Warrington.

Jordan, pictured, lived in a shared house owned by Mrs Warrington in his second and third years as a student at the University of Gloucestershire from autumn 2013 to summer 2015.

He later went on to work as a reporter at the Gloucestershire Echo and Gloucestershire Live after graduating, but has since moved to London and is now a senior press officer at the Department for International Trade.

William Warrington, the divorced couple’s son, will face trial after being charged with the two killings.

Speaking to Gloucestershire Live, Jordan said: “We just called her Val, and she was really lovely, from the first day I met her.

“The thing that I’ll always remember is just her kindness, and her caring nature.”

He added: “She was just a lovely and very kind and caring person. When I came with my dad to view the house, she showed us around, and she was just so friendly right from the start.

“She was very softly spoken and a very gentle soul. We’d like it when she came round, and she would always ask how uni was going, or how I was.”

Jordan went on to deal with Mrs Warrington professionally after joining the Echo.

He said: “She worked at Cheltenham General Hospital. If I was calling on a story about the NHS she was always really friendly and nice and it was lovely to speak to her.

“I met Clive only a few times, when he came round to the house. I didn’t know him nearly as well, but she seemed very pleasant as well. I’ll just remember Val for her kindness and being so caring and just one of the loveliest people.”
