Ex-editor quits regional publisher to take up international vice presidency

Greg JohnsonA former editor has left a regional publisher to take up a Europe-wide role with an international publishing group.

Greg Johnson has said farewell to Reach plc after five years to join electronic sports media and entertainment publisher Gamurs Group, which has its head office in Australia.

Greg, pictured, will serve as Gamurs’ vice president of content in Europe in his new post.

He has held senior roles at Reach including head of regional sport and head of insights and planning.

Prior to that, he was editor-in-chief of the group’s Football.London title from 2017 to 2020.

Announcing the move on Twitter, Greg wrote: “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ve been lucky to work with so many talented and hard-working people during my time.

“There’s too many to name without overwhelming your timelines for the rest of the day but I’ll be forever grateful to those I worked alongside for everything we achieved together, first at Football.London and then across regional sport as a whole. I’ve learned so much.

“Most importantly, thanks to those of you who made up the audience we put so much effort into serving.

“If you ever read articles, watched videos, listened to podcasts or enjoyed following the journalists who fell under my remit, a big thank you for making it all possible.”
