Editorial chief leaves regional publisher to run national title

Tom Marshall-BaileyAn editorial chief who moved to a new role six months ago has left a regional publisher after eight years to take up the editorship of a national title.

Tom Marshall-Bailey has announced his departure from Reach plc, where he was social media insights and development editor for sport, in order to become editor of sports news website Sportbible.

Tom, pictured, began his career with Reach forerunner Trinity Mirror as an online sports content writer with the Huddersfield Daily Examiner in 2014.

He has since gone on to hold senior roles with the company including launch editor of Football.London, head of football for Yorkshire and head of fan brands.

Tom, who moved to his most recent role in March this year, revealed his departure in a farewell post on Twitter.

He wrote: “After eight-and-a-bit years at Reach/Trinity Mirror, I have made the decision to move on to a new chapter.

“I cannot thank enough people in one tweet, or even a number of them, but for all of those who took a punt on me down the years, for those of you who gave me countless opportunities in an industry I love and care for deeply, and for those who made it so much fun along the way, thank you for everything.

“I woudn’t be where I am today without all of your support. Excited for my next chapter.”

Discussing his new role, he added: “Gone and secured myself a transfer ahead of Deadline Day.

“Delighted to be the new editor of Sportbible.

“A great team already doing great things and looking forward to seeing where we go next.”
