An editor has been recognised nationally for his entrepreneurial spirit during the coronavirus pandemic.

Michael Casey, who runs Your Harlow, has been honoured with an Entrepreneur Award, given to businesses “for showing ingenuity and business acumen, whilst supporting their communities throughout the pandemic”.

The awards are run by financial services and energy company Octopus in association with Springboard UK, a charity that supports unemployed people to improve their job prospects.

Michael, pictured, won the prize for his reporting of Covid and acting as a “digital and emotional support hub for the community he serves”.

He said: “Back in March 2020, I was determined to keep the Harlow public informed about Covid without scaring them or sensationalising the subject.

“The key role was reassurance and being the glue that kept the community together.

“I would like to think that the 2,500 plus stories helped in some small way.

“We also wanted to reflect how caring the Harlow community is and continues to be.

“I would like to thank Octopus Energy and the judges for selecting me as well as Harlow MP Robert Halfon for putting my name forward.”
