A regional daily has lent its support to a campaign aimed at helping children in need to enjoy their summer.

The South Wales Evening Post has backed Everyone Deserves a Summer 2022, which aids struggling families and children to have days out and food deliveries.

The campaign follows on from a similar festive appeal across the Swansea area which delivered an estimated 1,000 hampers worth £50 each to families in need.

It is organised by Swansea East MP Carolyn Harris with the backing of the Evening Post, Swansea Council, Ospreys rugby union team, Swansea City AFC, Coastal Housing Group, Admiral and Hygrove Homes.

The appeal will provide packed lunches and snacks to children at a number of events, including swimming sessions and football camps.
