Publisher launches fresh bid to boost junior football coverage

Kick N MixA regional publisher has launched a new bid to boost its coverage of junior football across the country.

Reach plc has started publishing a new weekly email newsletter called Kick N Mix, which aims to give readers “everything you want and need to know about the junior grassroots game”.

The newsletter aims to cover the sport from pre-school to teenage level.

Its launch was announced in a piece by Reach’s deputy head of regional sport Mat Kendrick.

Mat wrote: “For those of us involved in kids’ football, it’s an obsession. If we’re not chauffeuring them to training or matches, we’re running the line, organising the raffle, sorting out refreshments, washing kits… the list goes on.

“We know that up and down the country millions of you – parents, grandparents, carers, other relatives and friends – are doing the same and more.

“So Kick N Mix will bring you top tips and hacks, interviews, advice from experts and all your funny stories to make football weekends (and weekdays) easier and even more enjoyable.

“We want to cheer and celebrate all of our young footballers – girls, boys, players of every ability and background and age-groups ranging from pre-school mini kickers to teenage teams.”

Mat added there would be a “mailbag element” to the project to allow readers to discuss the topics they want to see covered.

He wrote: “Much-missed kids kickabouts might be on hold at the moment due to the current restrictions, but that won’t stop football dad Mat Kendrick and the Kick N Mix team cranking up the excitement levels with our weekly bulletins.

“We can’t wait until junior grassroots football returns and we know you can’t either. We’ll all be putting up goalnets and scrubbing muddy boots again before we know it.”
