News site seeks raft of reporters to cover city’s ‘under-represented’ areas

B247An independent news website is set to take on a raft of new journalists to serve “under-represented” areas of its patch.

Bristol 24/7 is seeking community reporters in a bid to ensure people across the city “are represented in local media”.

The site is particularly looking for journalists to cover areas of Bristol including Avonmouth, Broomhill, Hartcliffe, Lawrence Hill, Lawrence Weston, Shirehampton and Speedwell.

The reporters will be employed on a freelance and part-time basis and will work between two and six days per month, for an initial period of two months.

Bristol 24/7 says it plans to expand this period “dependent on funding”.

In a statement announcing the recruitment drive, the site said: “We believe in celebrating people’s differences. So regardless of your background or personal characteristics, we want to hear from you.

“If you are from a background that is not well represented in the media industry, we want to hear from you.”

It added: “We value the positive impact greater representation will have on our company, content and culture.”
