A journalist has revealed the contents of a “mortifying” note in which a neighbour revealed they could “see everything” when she showered.

Sarah Yates, pictured, received the note urging her to put blinds up in the bathroom of her terraced house in Stockport.

Sarah, who works as a syndication executive for Reach plc’s regional titles, was on holiday when her cousin, who shares the house with her, sent her a photograph of the letter.

The note was posted through their letterbox on Friday.

It read: “When you shower you can see everything. Didn’t want to embarrass you by knocking on”.

Sarah has recently renovated her first home, which included refitting the bathroom and installing brighter lighting.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News from Rhodes, Greece, she said: “I received a text with the letter pictured from my cousin and was totally shocked.

“I assumed you could see our figures through the frosted window but I didn’t realise they could see everything.

“The previous owner had an old bathroom in and a dimmer light so they mustn’t have been able to see them showering before.”

Sarah added: “Once I’m back from my holiday I’ll be isolating for 10 days so I’m going to spend some time in the garden putting some taller plants in front of the window for extra privacy.

“It is all quite mortifying really.”
