Regional daily’s old office goes back on market for £1m

A regional daily newspaper’s former office has been put back up to sale for £1m.

The old Newspaper House home of South Cumbria daily The Mail, in Barrow-in-Furness, was sold last year and plans to turn the building into apartments were subsequently approved by Barrow Borough Council.

But the building, pictured, on Abbey Road, has now been placed on the market again, according to The Mail.

The newspaper understands development company Abbey Road Regeneration Group has not ruled out developing the building itself but could sell it to another developer.

It has planning permission for 11 one and two bedroom flats and three workshop units.

It was previously listed on the market for £350,000 before being bought by the current owners.

The Mail’s listed address is now at Newspaper House, Kendal.
