Ex-regional journalist wins BAFTA nomination for Ripper documentary

Liza WilliamsA former regional journalist’s documentary about the Yorkshire Ripper has been nominated for a BAFTA award.

Liza Williams, who used to work for the Chester Chronicle and Liverpool Echo, has been shortlisted in the Specialist Factual category at the annual awards.

Liza, pictured, explored the investigation into Peter Sutcliffe in BBC4’s The Yorkshire Ripper Files: A Very British Crime Story.

She met survivors and relatives of the victims of serial killer as part of the documentary.

Liza began her career on the Chronicle in 2005 before moving to work for the Liverpool Daily Post two years later.

She served as health reporter on the Echo and Post between 2009 and 2012.

At that point she moved into broadcasting.
