A recently-launched regional news brand set up in an area traditionally served by competitors is now a “force to be reckoned with”, its editor has said.
Yorkshire Live editor Wayne Ankers has hailed the title’s coverage of South Yorkshire after the Reach plc site revealed “record-breaking figures”.
Yorkshire Live launched in March combining Reach’s existing Leeds Live and Huddersfield Daily Examiner team with a new team concentrating on South Yorkshire, Bradford and North Yorkshire.
The company says its audience has more than doubled in size in six months, with the brand recording more than 32m page views on desktop and app in August.
Reach has now launched a new advertising campaign which will see 55 billboard ads placed in locations across Sheffield, featuring the tagline ‘We’ve got South Yorkshire covered’.
Launching the campaign, Wayne said: “Yorkshire Live is a force to be reckoned with in South Yorkshire and across the county.
“Historically, the south was a stronghold for our competitors, but in a short space of time our team of trained journalists have come to know exactly what type of story resonates with our readers.
“We have grown a loyal readership who want quality respected journalism, something Yorkshire Live provides 24hrs a day, seven days a week.”
South Yorkshire is traditionally served by titles including JPIMedia daily The Star, in Sheffield, and weekly title the Doncaster Free Press, as well as independent newspapers including the Barnsley Chronicle and Rotherham Advertiser.
