Daily reveals how it first spotted football star’s talent aged four

A regional daily has revealed how it first spotted a promising football star’s talent aged four – as a future model.

The Bradford Telegraph & Argus dug through its archives to find a picture of Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood from 2006.

Mr Greenwood, now 18, was crowned boys’ winner of the Telegraph & Argus Modelsearch competition 14 years ago.

The Bradford-born striker won free representation for a year from the model agency and also received £50 in shopping vouchers for coming first in the four-to-six category.

Nigel Burton, T&A editor, said it was “great” to unearth the photos of the England Under-21 star.

He added: “He has been really impressive for Manchester United this season and he is obviously destined for great things in the game.

“Mason is one of English football’s biggest rising stars.

“Everyone at the T&A, and I’m sure in Bradford, wishes Mason good luck during his football career.”
