Weekly moves closer to centre of patch in office above pub

A weekly newspaper has moved into a new office closer to the centre of its patch – above a brewery and micropub.

The Mansfield Chad has relocated to the aptly named Chadburn House, which was formerly the headquarters of the Mansfield Brewery before it shut in 2002.

The ground floor of the site is now used by Prior’s Well Brewery, which has opened a cafe, micropub and brewery there.

The Chad had been based in an office on Newgate Lane in the town since 1974 before moving to new headquarters in Sherwood Oaks Business Park in 2013.

Chadburn House is around a mile closer to Mansfield town centre than Sherwood Oaks.

Chad head of content Jon Ball said: “The new office is perfect. It’s just a five-minute walk to the town centre, close to Mansfield Town FC, the magistrates’ court and council offices.

“The proximity of the micropub is just an added bonus and definitely had nothing at all to do with our decision to move here.”
