Regional journalist and ‘great man of God’ dies aged 91

Mike WiltshireA regional journalist described as a ‘truly great man of God’ who went on to work on Fleet Street has died aged 91.

Tributes have been paid to Mike Wiltshire, who worked on the Kentish Times and Lancashire Evening Post, before later becoming deputy editor of a group of regional papers in London.

He subsequently spent more than 20 years with the Financial Times, and went on to write for Christian publication Good News for Norwich & Norfolk after his retirement.

Good News editor Keith Morris paid tribute to Mike, pictured, in an obituary for the latest edition of the newspaper.

He said: “Mike wrote for our publications over a number of years and was always very professional and accurate with his many articles which really brought people’s stories of faith alive.

“For me he was a truly great man of God and an astonishing journalist, right to the end.”

Mike died in St Bart’s Hospital, in London, on 9 November.

A celebration of his life was held at St Andrew’s Church, Eaton, Norwich, on Saturday.
