Newspaper marks Burns Night with 32-page comic supplement

A Sunday newspaper marked the forthcoming celebration of Burns Night with a special 32-page cartoon supplement.

The Dundee-based Sunday Post yesterday featured a pull-out centred around its trademark cartoon ‘The Broons’.

The comic’s artists illustrated some of their favourite songs and poems by Robert Burns, whose life and work is celebrated annually by the event in Scotland.

Twleve pages of the supplement were dedicated to a retelling by ‘The Broons’ of the Burns poem ‘Tam O’ Shanter.

Editor Richard Prest said: “This is a fantastic product that celebrates Burns Night in our own unique way.

“Readers can enjoy a new interpretation of Burns classics in this beautifully presented special magazine from the Sunday Post.

“I’m sure the humour that runs throughout the comic strips would have been enjoyed by the Bard himself.”
