New deputies appointed at regional dailies

Two new deputy editors have been appointed at Local World-owned dailies in the Midlands following an editorial reshuffle.

Emma Turton recently stepped up to the role of Burton Mail editor after Kevin Booth moved to take over at the Leicester Mercury.

Now Julie Crouch has been named as Emma’s new deputy, moving from her current role as editor of the Johnston Press-owned Belper News and Ripley and Heanor News.

Meanwhile Ian Croson has been confirmed in the role of deputy editor of the Derby Telegraph, with editor Neil White now overseeing both Derby and Burton as editor-in-chief.

Other recent job moves in the regional press include:

  • Ewan Foskett has joined the Hertfordshire Mercury as a news reporter. Ewan was previously a reporter at the Welwyn Hatfield Times.
  • Chris Havergal, previously local government reporter at the Cambridge News, has been appointed as a reporter at the Times Higher Education Supplement.
