Former reporter takes up director’s role

Steve Hanrahan PicThe former assistant sports editor of a regional daily has taken up a managing directorship with Trinity Mirror.

Steve Hanrahan has begun his new role as MD of Sport Media, Trinity Mirror’s specialist publishing unit, having previously served as publishing director.

Steve, pictured above, began his career at the Trinity Mirror-owned Crosby Herald more than 25 years ago and eventually became assistant sports editor at the Liverpool Echo, after a brief period in the interim where he set up his own football magazine business.

In 2001 he helped the Echo’s sports editor Ken Rogers and a small team set up Sport Media, which develops high quality print and digital publications for several of the UK’s leading football clubs as well as international organisations.

Next year the business will serve as the official publisher of Rugby World Cup programmes.
