A weekly sports editor finally found a sport-free Saturday afternoon to get married to his ex-journalist partner.

Claire Bryant and Chris Sweet originally met in 2007 on the steps of the old Western Gazette building in Yeovil, when they were both trainee journalists.

Chris is now the Gazette’s sports editor, but Claire left for a career in PR and marketing and now works as marketing manager for DIY outlet Screwfix.

They were married on Saturday at St James’ Church, Preston Plucknett, Yeovil, followed by a reception at Northover Manor, Ilchester.

The couple are now honeymooning in Florida, but Chris will be back well in time for the start of the new football season.
