Scottish title shortlisted against nationals for award

A Scottish Sunday title will battle it out against a number of national newspapers to win a prize at this year’s Press Awards.

The Sunday Post has been shortlisted for the Cudlipp Award for an expose on a puzzle firm and will compete against five shortlisted national titles for the prize.

The award commemorates the journalism of legendary newspaper editor Hugh Cudlipp and recognises excellence in popular journalism.

Also nominated for the award is the Daily Mirror, which has been shortlisted twice for its Hillsborough stories and its payday loans campaign, the Daily Mail for its Gary McKinnon campaign, The Independent for its Sex for Fees investigation and The Times for its Cities Fit for Cycling campaign.

The awards, which are organised by the Society of Editors, take place on 7 March when the winners of 29 categories will be announced at a ceremony in London.
