Business editor wins financial journalism award

A business editor at a regional daily has won an award which recognises the top financial and economic journalism.

Jenny Chapman, left, business editor at Cambridge News and its sister Cambridge Business magazine, has been named the Nations and Regions Journalist of the Year at the Harold Wincott Awards.

The awards, which were founded in 1970, recognise the best business, economic and financial journalism.

Jenny was presented with her award at a ceremony at Mansion House in London, where Dame Marjorie Scardino was the guest speaker.

Judges praised Jenny for: “Excellent coverage of the Cambridge high-technology cluster – engaging interviews with Greg Winter, one of the great figures in UK biotechnology, and Mike Lynch of Autonomy – good insights into links between the university and industry.”

Other awards went to the BBC’s Emily Maitlis, Sir Samuel Brittan, Zanny Minto Beddoes of The Economist, Alexandra Suich of The Economist and Moira O’Neill of Investors Chronicle.
