UK’s top-selling regional daily promotes itself in video

The UK’s biggest-selling regional daily has produced a promotional video to highlight its positive impact.

Wolverhampton’s Express & Star has launched the three-minute video to promote the history and influence of the title and a similar film has been made for sister daily the Shropshire Star.

Community figures and employees ranging from van drivers to senior management appear on the films stating facts and figures about the business, along with the move into new technology including iPad and iPhone page turning apps.

They also highlight the work of the titles in campaigning on important issues, their awards events and the commitment to providing same day news across local editions.

Those taking part include Phil Inman, managing director of the papers’ publisher Midland News Association, who says: “We bring real news to real people in real time. We have a business to be proud of and a future to really believe in.”

The Express & Star’s video, which can be viewed here, includes the role played by the paper during last August’s riots in keeping people in touch with events and even helping to secure convictions.

And the Shropshire film highlights the role that the newspaper played in launching a safety campaign after the number of deaths in house fires reached a 13-year high.

The videos, scripted and edited by the MNA’s brand and communications partner Wyatt International, were filmed by video journalist Nicky Butler and appear on the papers’ websites and YouTube.
