The Yorkshire Post took home four awards including the title of Yorkshire daily newspaper of the year.

At the 12th annual Yorkshire Press Awards in Wakefield last night, the Johnston Press title could also boast the best journalists in the daily news reporter, business writer and daily photographer categories.

The top individual prize of Yorkshire journalist of the year went to Martin Smith, from Sheffield daily The Star, who was also named sports writer of the year and highly commended in the daily feature writer category.

The Star was rewarded for its multimedia news delivery while the Yorkshire Evening Post won both the front page and daily feature writer awards.

Among the weekly prizes, the Dewsbury Reporter was named best title while Claire Armstrong from the same title took home best news reporter.
