Journalist sells rare Susan Boyle CD on eBay

A former local press journalist is in line for a welcome pay-day after selling a rare CD of singing sensation Susan Boyle on eBay.

The Scottish spinster became a worldwide hit on YouTube this month after her rendition of I Dreamed a Dream, from Les Miserables, on Britain’s Got Talent.

Now Scottish freelancer Amber McNaught has sold a review copy of a ten-year-old charity CD featuring Susan for £620.

Amber, now a freelance, was given the CD for a review during her two-year stint with the West Lothian Herald and Post.

In the auction message, Amber wrote: “I am the journalist who wrote the first ever review of Susan Boyle, singing Cry Me a River on the CD ‘Music for a Millenium Celebration’.

“I’m selling my original review copy of the CD, which is one of only 1,000 ever printed, and as this was given to me to review before release, probably one of the first ever.

“This CD was produced by Whitburn Community Council in conjunction with the West Lothian Herald and Post to celebrate the year 2000.

“At the time I was working for the Herald and Post as a journalist…..as well as being an original copy, I also believe it to be one of the very first copies pressed.

“Mine was the first review of Susan’s singing and she thanked me in person at the launch of the CD.”

She told HTFP: “I didn’t keep the CD for any particular reason. I’d actually completely forgotten I had it until I read about Susan’s appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.”

Amber also posted a clipping of said review on her auction message page.

Sadly for her though there are several other people who have kept original copies of the charity CD and are now auctioning them on eBay and receiving similar bids in the hundreds.
