Cage-fighting drag queens bring web hits boost

A bizarre tale of a fight involving cross-dressing pugilists has provided an unexpected web hits boost for one local newspaper.

The South Wales Evening Post secured CCTV footage from local police of a scuffle between two men and a group dressed in drag during an August night out in Swansea.

Unfortunately for the two yobs they picked on the wrong people as it turned out their victims were in fact cage fighters getting in touch with their feminine side for an evening.

The video, which can be seen below, shows the men picking fights outside a nightclub, including one with a reveller dressed as Spiderman, before walking down the street and running into the cross-dressing martial artists.

A few words are exchanged before one of the shirtless yobs throws a punch.

A man dressed in a short skirt, stockings and high heels then appears and floors the pair with lightening quick punches before his friend calmly picks up his dropped handbag and walks away.

Evening Post web editor Paul Turner told HTFP: “We obtained CCTV of the incident which is now on websites around the world, including the homepage of The Sun newspaper site.

“All of them are linking back to our site and generating a huge amount of traffic for thisissouthwales.co.uk.

“We have had almost 60,000 hits on the video so far and the figure is rising all the time.

“We also had double our previous record number of hits in a day on thisissouthwales.co.uk on Tuesday and yesterday looked set to be even better.”

The two men pleaded guilty to using abusive words and behaviour and were both handed four-month community orders, given electronic tags and placed under curfew.
