Business magazine increases frequency

The Liverpool Daily Post’s business magazine is increasing its publication run.

LDP Business is switching from bi-monthly to monthly with each edition coming out on the last Tuesday of the month.

It will be a 52-page newspaper product and comes in response to demand from readers and advertisers.


A golf competition run by a branch of the Journalists’ Charity is being held next month.

Called the ‘Hackers Cup’, it takes place at Loch Lomond on 22 June and is organised by the Glasgow and West of Scotland branch.

Meanwhile, the Journalists’ Charity is also offering cash for questions at the House of Commons on 18 June.

A panel of industry heavyweights including Alastair Campbell, Robert Peston and Alan Duncan MP, will line up for a grilling in aid of the charity.

Shadow Chancellor George Osbourne praised ‘Think North East First’ – a campaign being run by Newcastle daily The Journal.

He told the Trinity Mirror daily: “The Think North East First campaign is brilliant and is showing people that there is lots they can do to support the North East.

“Anything we can do to promote the region is to be praised because the region is going through a very tough time and we need to do all we can to lessen the impact of the recession here.”

Think North East First was launched in February in a bid to highlight what the region has to offer.


Birmingham City University has launched a new masters programme in freelance journalism and enterprise.

Due to start in September, it will cover new media, gathering and distributing news, marketing, podcasting and social media.

It is aimed at working journalists or recent graduates and follows the recent addition of a social media masters to the university’s portfolio of courses.


The head of graduate journalism at London’s City University is leaving to be communications chief with the World Economic Forum, in Switzerland.

Adrian Monck has been at the helm in London since 2005 and will take up the new role in August.
