Trinity Mirror launches new website and newspaper edition

The Hounslow & Heston Chronicle’s new website has gone live and become the latest Trinity Mirror title to undergo an online makeover.

The new site – hounslowchronicle.co.uk – will feature breaking news and photos as well as providing a quick route through to its hyperlocal sites.

Site users are now able to easily access photos, including those not published in the papers, and hunt out new homes, jobs and cars.

The hyperlocal sections of the new site are intended for reverse publishing as local people populate the website and provide material on what really matters to them.

Editorial staff have been running a similar print project called Retro which specialises in detailed reporting of village and district news.

The team has also been boosted by the arrival of Lucy Proctor who is the new dedicated web editor.

The paper is part of the paid-for Middlesex Chronicle weekly series which this year celebrates its 150th anniversary.

A third title – the Brentford & Isleworth Chronicle – has also been launched, joining the Hounslow & Heston Chronicle and the Feltham, Bedfont & Hanworth Chronicle.

The papers’ masthead has also undergone some cosmetic work.

The Middlesex Chronicle name now appears prominently within the mastheads of all three editions and a grand version of the official Middlesex crest – complete with crown – has pride of place.

Series editor Janice Raycroft said: “The arrival of hounslowchronicle.co.uk is undoubtedly the key development for the future of the Chronicle brand.

“All the history and integrity of the past 150 years has been secured with the work we’ve completed recently on the newspapers.

“From this week the service we offer readers and advertisers is unsurpassed and taking a clear – and very exciting – direction to the future of multimedia publishing.”

To complete a busy period for staff, Trinity Mirror chief executive Sly Bailey dropped into the office to take in a tour and see how the new website was going.
