Water tests after paper's probe

Water supplies in every part of Westquarter village are to be tested after the Falkirk Herald revealed how a family had been buying bottles water for weeks.

Their mains supplied had been cloudy and tests revealed they had high levels of iron and double the recommended safety levels of lead.

The water authority is now buying bottles water for the family featured in the Herald’s pages and work on their house will see mains supply pipes completely replaced.

There will be similar work carried out to neighbouring homes.

Environmental health staff are to randomly test every street in the village in a bid to ensure the residents’ safety.
