Star boosts work on archives

The Shropshire Star has been presented with a framed selection of writing down the ages in honour of its role in preserving public records.

The presentation was to managing director Keith Parker by George Raxster, of Shropshire Heritage Trust, at the paper’s head office in Telford.

The Star has made a donation to the trust to help with its work in archiving information at Shropshire Records and Research Centre, Shrewsbury.

Mr Raxster said the archives were important to business and family historians.

“We get new information in every week, which all needs to be classified and stored for public use. The money will be used to help maintain our records.”
