Senior management changes at Trinity Mirror

Trinity Mirror’s board is soon to announce who will fill a new senior executive role in charge of all its newspapers.

Two existing directors are to step down, and Stephen Parker, who is currently Regional Director (North), will become Managing Director, Regional Newspapers and take full responsibility for the regional and local newspaper business. He will report to the new appointee.

The Group says it is agreeing final terms with the person taking over the newly-created post, who will report directly to Group Chief Executive Philip Graf.

The new appointment is intended to encourage the development of best practices between the national and regional businesses and will also allow Mr Graf to focus on accelerating the development of the Group’s strategy.

With these changes, Mike Masters, Group Managing Director, Publishing UK and Ireland will be resigning as a director of the company, taking early retirement at the end of December 2000.

Roger Eastoe, Group Managing Director, National and Sports Division has chosen to resign as a director of the company. He will be pursuing a number of business opportunities and will leave the company at the end of September.

Mr Graf said: “This new role marks an important evolution in the development of our senior management team, bringing a dedicated strategic and operational focus to this key area of our business for the first time.

“I would also like to thank Mike for the key role he has played in the success of Trinity over many years and for his help and unstinting commitment latterly at Trinity Mirror, and to Roger for his 25 years of outstanding work on the National Titles and the role he has played in the successful rejuvenation of The Mirror over the last four years.”
