Reporter re-opens 20-year murder mystery

Dundee reporter Graeme Strachan has re-opened a 20-year-old unsolved murder case – and claims that Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe was not responsible.

The body of 20-year-old Elizabeth McCabe was found in 1980 on the outskirts of Dundee and popular belief is that the murder was committed by the Yorkshire Ripper.

The Evening Telegraph/Dundee Courier and Sunday Post reporter linked up with investigative Yorkshire Ripper author Noel O’Gara.

He asked the Ripper expert to investigate the Dundee murder to establish whether Sutcliffe was responsible, and finally lay the rumours to rest – one way or another.

Here is Graeme’s story…

The author of a disturbing analysis of the Yorkshire Ripper inquiry has studied the unsolved murders of two Dundee women in a bid to establish if they were committed by Peter Sutcliffe.

After studying the Dundee murders, investigative author Noel O’Gara concluded a serial killer was responsible for the two deaths, but also believed the murders did not bear the hallmarks of Peter Sutcliffe.

The body of 20-year-old Elizabeth McCabe was discovered in Templeton Woods on the city outskirts in 1980 only 150 yards from where the corpse of prostitute Carol Lannen was found almost a year before.
