Seven South London Guardian/Comet editorial staff raised more than £2,000 for breast cancer research by running a moonlight marathon.
Reporters and subs Rachel Gibbons, Paula Dear, Natasha King, Jenny Vereker, Marie Jackson, Diana Worthy and Jo Parkes took to the streets of London for either the half- (13 miles) or full marathon.
Organised by Walk the Walk in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the event attracted 8,000 bra-clad women walking through the night to raise money through sponsorship.
The event was the third Playtex-sponsored Moonwalk, which sets out from Battersea Park at midnight. The women arrive back at anything between 3am and 11am.
Sutton Guardian news editor Paula Dear said: “Some of us did it last year and couldn’t believe we were putting ourselves through it again.
“But it was worth it as we felt a great sense of achievement at improving our finish time, and in raising so much money.”
The women’s fundraising efforts were boosted by a £500 match funding pledge from Newsquest.
