The Dartmouth Chronicle and Kingsbridge and Salcombe Gazette are preparing to welcome a royal visitor to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the two titles.
The Duke of York is due to visit Dartmouth tomorrow as part of a day-long tour of South Devon, and will drop in to the Old Market, home of the Chronicle.
During his visit the Duke will be greeted by staff from the two weekly papers, including editor Gina Coles, Dartmouth reporter Victoria Vaughan and the Gazette’s chief reporter Vivien Lambe.
He will also meet Sir Ray Tindle, owner of parent-company Tindle Newspapers, group managing director Brian Doel, finance director Colin Christmas, managing director Mike Roberts and general manager Jackie Smith.
The Duke will unveil two commemorative plaques – one for each paper – in honour of their big day.
Following the royal celebrations, staff will go for a celebratory meal with Sir Ray, who will also present each of them with a specially-made commemorative plate.
