New political role for Swansea journalist

Former South Wales Evening Post industrial correspondent David Williams has been appointed as BBC Wales’s new political editor.

Mr Williams, (49), is currently the presenter, producer and director of HTV Wales’s current affairs and factual programmes department.

A former editor of Wales Today, Mr Williams worked at the Evening Post in the early 1970s. He left in 1974 to join Swansea Sound as deputy news editor.

He told the Evening Post: “One way or another I have been covering political stories in Wales all my career and I can’t think of a more exciting moment to be devoting all my energies to political events in Wales.”
