MEN's £10,000 bid to catch killer

The Manchester Evening News is offering a £10,000 reward in a bid to find out who killed a 97-year-old woman.

Last month Evelyn Jackson was attacked during a robbery at her home, and she later died from her injuries, but despite a series of appeals police have not yet caught the perpetrator.

Now the MEN is hoping its reward will encourage someone to come forward with the vital information need to solve the crime.

Police say they believe people living close to the scene may have important information about the attack and may be able to name the killer, but witnesses have so far chosen to stay silent.

The MEN says the crime must not go unpunished, and it will pay out a £10,000 reward to anyone who provides information which leads to the conviction of Evelyn’s killer.

Det Chief Insp Glynn Silcock said: “We are now hoping that with the help of the MEN a reward will be the incentive we need to prompt anyone with any information to get in touch.”
