Hertfordshire news staff move on

Staff from The Comet and the Stevenage Herald in Hertfordshire are this week settling into a new office.

120 editorial, advertising and distribution staff have moved to new headquarters in Stevenage Old Town after outgrowing their previous home in Hitchin.

The move means departments including production, IT, page planning and new media, who were previously based in St Albans, have also got room to move in, creating a new headquarters for Archant Hertfordshire.

The new offices have a modern open-plan layout and also include stylish meeting rooms and a ‘break out’ area where staff can eat their lunch or get away from their desks.

Archant Hertfordshire managing director Stuart McCreery said: “Hopefully this will be a significant improvement in the working environment for all of our staff.”

  • The move sees the end of an era for The Comet which has had an office in Hitchin since 1859.
