Gayle takes to the skies – ON a plane!

A brave Aberdeen Evening Express reporter has taken to the skies in a breath-taking charity stunt.

Gayle Nicol, (25), took part in a wing-walk to raise to raise money for cancer research – standing on the top wing of a 1940s Boeing bi-plane as it took off.

Gayle took part in the charity event in memory of Kevin Humphreys, who died on Christmas Day aged 15.

Kevin fought leukaemia for eight years and had two bone marrow transplants, and during that time Gayle had written many stories about him.

Kevin’s mum, Carol, asked Gayle if she would take part in the charity challenge in aid of the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust, which Kevin had also hoped to do before he died.

Gayle, who hopes to have raised £600, said: “It was absolutely amazing – the best feeling in the whole world.

“It just felt like I was flying and as soon as we landed I just wanted to go back up again.

“I was really nervous before but when we got going I just decided to make the most of it.”

Kevin’s aunt Audrey and Emmerdale star Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard, also took part in the wing-walk.

The stunt was part of a fund-raising weekend starring the cast of Emmerdale.
