Death of former Echo librarian

A former Northern Echo librarian has died suddenly aged 38.

Belinda Fisher, who worked for the firm as assistant librarian between 1984 and 1992, was responsible for the introduction of the electronic text archive that created a database of Echo stories.

She left the newspaper to work as a reference librarian at Anglia TV and most recently was librarian at Gresham’s School in Holt.

Head of electronic information services at The Echo, Peter Chapman, said: “Belinda was a very organised person who led the way in developing electronic information services for the journalists of The Northern Echo.”

The funeral took place in Norfolk on Friday.
