Loaded guns available:£25 a time

A newspaper campaign to stamp out gun violence on a city’s streets has been told criminals can hire out handguns loaded with two bullets for £25 a time.

The revelation was made to the Bradford Telegraph and Argus by city MP Marsha Singh.

One of his constituents passed on the news after the MP spoke out against what is being seen as a growing gun culture on Bradford’s streets.Mr Singh has already given his backing to the T&A’s campaign to stamp out gun violence.

He said: “I have since been told by a young man in my constituency that handguns can be hired between criminals for £25.

“Apparently they come with two bullets and you hand it back when you’re done. If there is any truth in this claim, and I have no reason to dispute it, then it is extremely worrying.”

Hiring out illegal firearms is known to be an established criminal practice in other cities across the country.

Police claimed to be unaware of the practice taking place in Bradford but agreed it could be taking place – and officers have appealed for information from the public.

They said it was down to good police intelligence and activity that guns on the street were in such short supply.
