Daily’s business trio up for ‘Oscars’ of financial journalism

Three business journalists from a regional daily have been shortlisted for the ‘Oscars’ of financial reporting.

Yorkshire Post deputy business editor Greg Wright, personal finance correspondent Conal Gregory and property and interiors writer Sharon Dale are all nominated in the Financial Journalist of the Year (Local/Regional Titles) category at the Headline Money awards 2017.

They are joined on the shortlist by freelance Jeff Salway, as well as Margaret Taylor, who writes for Glasgow-based titles The Herald and Sunday Herald.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London, in May.

Post business editor Mark Casci told HTFP: “To have three of our journalists nominated for these awards is testimony to the strength of the team.

“The YP has always prided itself on having skilled and knowledgeable staff and to have this recognised by the award’s panel is hugely gratifying.

“I wish all of the finalists the very best for the big day.”

What the hell is an “interiors writer”? As an industry which is supposed to make things easier to grasp, some of us have some very strange methods of demonstrating it.
