MEN digital boss seconded to group-wide role

A senior digital journalist at the Manchester Evening News has been seconded to a new group-wide role.

Sarah Lester, executive editor (digital) at the flagship daily, will be working on digital projects across the Trinity Mirror regional network including election planning and coverage.

She has been replaced at the MEN for a six-month period by Andrew Jackson, who has been appointed to the role of acting executive editor (digital).

Andrew joins the paper from sister title the Huddersfield Daily Examiner where he was executive editor (digital and print).

Other recent job moves in the regional press include the following:

  • Tom Bristow had been promoted from health correspondent to digital content editor at the Eastern Daily Press and and Norwich Evening News. Meanwhile Louise Hepburn has been appointed as a reporter at the EDP covering King’s Lynn and West Norfolk
  • Bethan Evans has been appointed as content editor at Western Daily Press. She was previously a reporter at the Weston, Worle & Somerset Mercury
  • Jon Hebditch has joined the Press and Journal, Aberdeen, as a reporter from Aberdeen-based news agency SWNS.
  • Dorset Echo reporter Tara Cox has rejoined the newspaper following a stint at sister title the Bridport & Lyme Regis News. Her replacement in Bridport will be Liz Jackson.
  • Archant London has appointed Sebastian Murphy-Bates as a reporter. He replaces Kay Atwal, who left last year and will be working across The Docklands and East London Advertiser, the Barking & Dagenham Post and the Newham Recorder.
  • BPM Media (Midlands) health correspondent Anuji Varma went on maternity leave this week. Alison Stacey will cover the health correspondent role for the Birmingham Post, Sunday Mercury and Birmingham Mail during her absence.
  • Swindon Advertiser news editor Katie Bond left the newspaper.
