A media awards which aims to celebrate the best journalism across the Yorkshire and Humber region is open for entries.

The O2 Media Awards is now in its eighth year and a number of new categories have been introduced, including Website of the Year and an Online Media Award.

There are 19 categories in total for the awards, which celebrate journalism in the region across print, television, radio and online organisations.

Deadline for entries is 20 May and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in September.

This year’s awards have seen the search for the top photographer expanded to include moving pictures with a new Images of the Year category, which is open to broadcast camera operators and video journalists, as well as press photographers.

O2 has also introduced a new Broadcast Team of the Year category to celebrate those working in TV and radio.

Nicola Green, director of communications and reputation at O2, said: “The awards are a memorable part of the local media calendar and the awards presentation evenings never fail to be both uplifting and emotional.

“We are excitedly looking ahead to another fabulous competition which acknowledges the diversity, quality and passion of regional journalists.”

Work published or broadcast between 3 April 2014 and 1 May 2015 is eligible for entry to the awards.
