Newspaper exposes city’s ‘dozy parkers’ in new campaign

A regional daily has launched a campaign exposing the worst car parkers on its patch after readers tweeted its editor pleading for action on the matter.

The Star, Sheffield, splashed on the launch of its ‘Dozy Parkers’ campaign on Monday, pictured below, with the aim of raising awareness about poor parking across the city.

The Star featured photographs of particularly bad examples of stationary vehicles double parking and flouting yellow lines.

A survey of readers’ worst parking hotspots, taken from The Star’s Facebook page, also featured.

Sheffield parking campaign

Announcing the launch, Star editor James Mitchinson posted on Twitter: “How you shape our work. Sheffielders tweeted me pleading for action. So this is your campaign!”

A piece in The Star by reporter Gael Stigant added: “The Star is today exposing South Yorkshire’s most inconsiderate motorists – the dozy parkers.

“From double parking and flouting yellow lines to obstructing bus stops and mounting pavement, it seems dopey drivers have really got city residents’ blood boiling.

“Not only does poor parking infuriate locals, it can also be a huge problem for parents with prams, wheelchair users, waste collection workers and emergency service vehicles.”

Still don’t get it. Why would cloners not just look out the window for a car make/reg number?

I wonder how Tony Sher would feel if his car featured in a campaign like this because the garage mechanic road testing it had parked it somewhere stupid while he bought some crisps? The person it’s registered to isn”t necessarily the person who parked it there.
